Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is Located in a Village Kallakuru Just 5 KM away from Bhimavaram. Apart from Dwaraka Tirumala in West Godavari, Kallakuru Venkateswara Swamy Temple had a great Significance dated 450 Years Back.
The History of the Temple is as Follows:
A Brahmin Sridhara used to live at Tirumala Venkatachalam Hills and while spending his life Serving Lord Venkateswara by Building an Ashram, He gets attracted to a GandharvaKanya who used to Play Veena at Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Presence. He asked her to Marry Him, But she refuses his proposal. Angry with the GardarvaKanya Reply Sridhara Cursed her. GandharvaKanya too cursed Sridhara in Return. Not knowing what to do, both of Them Prayed Lord Venkateswara Swamy to Show a way to get rid of their Curses. Lord Venkateswara Replied Stating that GandarvaKanya will be Born as Padmavathi River near Godavari at Coastal Area and Sridhara will be born at Karnataka as a Brahmin and after facing Severe Struggles in his life he will come to Padmavathi River and after Placing my (Lord Venkateswara) Idol at the River and Praying both the Curses will be Lifted off Said Lord Venkateswara.
Temple Premises with Beautiful Gardens
As Said by Lord, Sridhara was born as a Brahmin reached Padmavathi River and starting praying Lord Venkateswara by Placing a Golden Idol. But one day the Idol had been Robbeb. Lord Venkateswara came into the dream of Sridhara and said that his new idol will be found on the west side of the River in a Asvadda Tree. The very next day Sridhara Found the New Idol of Sri Venkateswara Swamy and started to offer his prayings to it by which he got his Curse Lifted off.
During those Days the Idol of Lord Venkateswara Swamy used to be Submerged into soil till the Stomach, From them on this Village had been Called Kallakuru instead of Sri Rangaraja Puram. Mogalturu a Village near Bhimavaram is called Kethalipuram during the rule of Sri Kalidindi Rangaraju Prabhu . One day Lord Venkateswara appeared in his dream and asked him to Visit Tirumala. Following the Lords Words Rangaraju started his journey to Tirumala, On the way while he is resting at a place near Elurupadu, Tirumalacharya the main Purohit of Kallakuru Temple asked him to provide Amenities (Poshana) for the Temple and take the blessings of Venkateswara. But Rangaraju Refused it in a polite way. The next day when Rangaraju woke up and finds his both eyes were Blind. After visiting Tirumala Rangaraju he got his one eye back and the second eye after visiting Kallakuru Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Later Sri Rangaraju began serving Kallakuru Venkateswara Swamy. He even Donated 83 Acres of land which is still under the Devastanam.
